Anche il topo, come il bragozzo, è una barca che proviene dalla Laguna di Venezia, dov’è tuttora utilizzata per lavoro nella sua versione motorizzata.
Di lunghezza variabile da 6 a 10 m., era agile e veloce, con il fondo piatto allunato alle estremità per facilitarne il disimpegno in caso di arenamento.
Armata di un solo albero con vela al terzo, era molto adatta anche alla voga, come le altre barche più piccole già viste (es. la battana).
Pescavano principalmente con i parangali (lenze), oppure – come la lancia - erano usate per il trasporto veloce del pescato dalle flotte d’alto mare ai porti di vendita.
Like the bragozzo, the topo is typical of the Venice Lagoon where its motorized version is still used.
With a length varyng from 6 to 10 m, it was considered a very light and quick boat characterized by a flat bottom taping at the ends, so that it could be easily refloated in case of stranding.
It just had one mast and could also be used as a rowing boat.
They were used for fishing with a fishing line or to quickly transport the catch from the off-shore fleets to the selling ports.
